The name
Rameswaram is a temple town on a small island off Tamil Nadu, joined to the mainland by a single bridge. In 1931 it was the birthplace of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam — scientist, teacher, eleventh President of India.
Named for and inspired by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was born in Rameswaram.
The cafe carries the name the way he carried it — as a standard to live up to. HISTORY TV18 called the cafe “A Culinary Tribute to Dr. Abdul Kalam.” The founders simply call it the reason the counter opens at five and the batter is never stale.

Indiranagar & JP Nagar
The Rameshwaram Cafe opens its first rooms — Indiranagar and JP Nagar. The queue moves indoors and gets longer anyway.

Madhapur takes the dosa to Hyderabad; a counter opens at Kempegowda International Airport; 100 Feet Road doubles down on Indiranagar.
